Are we more narcissistic than in the past?
The Culture of Narcissism, by Christopher Lasch
I just finished the classic book The Culture of Narcissism, and immediately knew that I had to make a video about it.
This book was written in 1979, but it feels even more relevant today.
The author, Christopher Lasch, argues that since the Second World War, Americans have become more narcissistic and self-obsessed. And he doesn’t just mean that people have become more selfish; they’re also less concerned with meaning outside of themselves, less loyal to others, and more unaware of historical continuity.
